Play ABC, Alfie Atkins is an engaging app that fosters children's language learning skills through interactive play. Developed by language teachers and game designers, this app effectively connects the function and purpose of letters in a playful and experimental way.

The app features a variety of educational tools, including a letter tracer, a word machine, and a puppet theatre. The letter tracer helps children learn the appearance and sound of all letters while improving motor skills and muscle memory through drawing and tracing on the screen. With the word machine, children can spell new words using phonemes and letter tips. These words are then sent to the puppet theatre, where children can unleash their creativity and imagination by telling fantastic stories. This interactive play loop provides concrete results and motivates children to develop their language skills at their own pace.

Play ABC, Alfie Atkins has been developed and tested in collaboration with teachers and students from schools in Finland and Sweden, ensuring it meets the needs of children. Unlike other apps, this app does not include points or time limits that can lead to stress or failure. Instead, children can play and learn on their own terms in preschool, at school, or at home.

This app offers a comprehensive learning experience, covering various aspects of literacy such as letter sounds, tracing letters, spelling around 100 different words, reading simple words, recognizing upper and lowercase letters, developing fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination, understanding the basics of literacy, and even fostering creative storytelling.
